Non-round Wheels
And yet they roll!
With the right rolling surface, even a square rolls perfectly round. This applies to a pentagon as well as to any other regular polygon.
Wavy, in the form of a catenary arch; this is the suitable surface for a polygon with equal edge lengths. In this way, the center of mass (center) of the wheel always remains directly above the contact point when it rolls. The polygon thus stays in unstable equilibrium and rolls smoothly and evenly.
