Sand images
Sliding, floating, flowing
So beautiful, so fascinating: The sand, moving here between glass plates, tells a story far beyond that of an hourglass.
When it slides, it does so at the same angle, known to process engineers as the angle of repose. When the grains fall freely, they trace a parabolic path. Acting almost like a liquid, the sand forms waves on its surface and lets larger grains float on top.
