One step to the left, three to the right, stretch upward a little, bend down: there’s no escape. Those eyes follow you everywhere.
Strange. But explainable: from a distance, the face looks normal. An illusion. It creates the impression that the gaze is following you. Up close, it becomes clear that this face is concave, rather than convex.
